Our Story
Established in 2019, Michigan Cream & Sugar ice cream is made from scratch with locally sourced ingredients in small batches in Saginaw, Michigan. Our rotating selection of flavors celebrates Michigan’s agricultural diversity. We stand firmly behind our goal of serving the finest ice cream products Michigan has to offer and bringing together farms and families. Uptown Bay City’s & Old Town Saginaw’s Michigan Cream and Sugar’s scoop shops serve up hand-crafted ice cream featuring the freshest and highest-quality locally sourced ingredients available – and every scoop benefits Michigan farm families.
Michigan Cream & Sugar Ice Cream Company is a business of HORIZONS Conference Center with support from Michigan Sugar Company. As a business of HORIZONS, we are committed to delivering exceptional service, superior presentation and outstanding quality.

The Cream.
Our ice cream is made creamy and decadent with milk from farms across our great state, the majority of which are family owned. Throughout Michigan, 900 dairy farm families care for more than 445,000 cows, which each produce almost 3,000 gallons of some of the highest-quality milk in the United States. Three pounds of whole milk go into each gallon of our made-from-scratch small-batch ice cream.
The Sugar.
Everything we make includes all-natural Pioneer® Sugar made by Michigan Sugar Company, a grower-owned cooperative that’s been making Michigan life sweeter since 1906. Throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region and part of Ontario, 160,000 acres of sugarbeets are grown each year, which Michigan Sugar Company processes into more than 1.2 billion pounds of sugar. Many of Michigan Sugar Company’s farm families are fourth- and fifth-generation sugarbeet farmers, and are true stewards of their land, committed to growing the highest-quality, most sustainable crops possible.
